CONTEMPLATIONS: ON THE PSYCHEDELIC EXPERIENCE distills the wisdom in the Australian entheogenic community, visualising deep personal journeys and insights to illuminate important questions about the future of psychedelics in the contemporary world. It is a guide for the uninitiated. A map of altered states of consciousness. A cartography of visions. A glimpse into past, present and future of Australian psychedelic culture.

 

Directed by infamous Australian psychedelic pioneeer Julian Palmer – creator of the changa smoking blend – CONTEMPLATIONS follows the journey of the personal psychedelic experience told through animation visual effects and psychedelic art. The documentary charts the psychonautic journey told in first person accounts from the Australian psychedelic underground. This no hold barred examination of altered states of consciousness explores the culture of psychedelics in the western world, the dangers and revelatory potentials of personal experiences, encounters with non-human entities, shamanic insights and the psychedelic medicine paradigm and the potential of the psychedelic consciousness for evolving global consciousness into the future.

Guest filmmakers include Creative Producer and Editor Timothy Parish and animators Levin A. Diatschenko and Wilf Watson who were apart of the an international team of artists that were commissioned to visualise a series of profound, mysterious and mind boggling true hallucinations.

 

The screening will include a Q&A with filmmakers followed by a psychedelic after party at Bustard Town, Darwin’s newest independent venue for artists and musicians.
